Day 1:London - Chennai
By flight BA 035 at 00: 55 AM Arrive Chennai airport, and after clearing customs and immigrations, look for our representative from Live India Tours, who will be holding a placard with your name on it. You will be met, assisted and transferred to your city centreHotel The Park on immediate occupancy basis. It is recommended to go over your next day’s program, including pick up and drop off times etc. with your representative before signing off for the day. Hotel


Day 2:Kalashetra
Around 11:00 AM, proceed for Kalashetra, the famous school of dance, founded in 1936 by Rukmini Devi Arundale and her husband Dr George Arundale. It has played a significant part in the revival of Indian art and crafts, especially the dance form of Bharatanatyam. Hotel (Breakfast) Later proceed for city tour, visiting Fort St. George, built in 1653 by the British East India Company, presently housing the secretariat and the legislative assembly. The Fort Museum has a fascinating collection of memorabilia from the days of the East India Company and the British Raj. Proceed to The St. Mary’s Church, built in 1678-80, which was the first English church and the oldest surviving British construction in India. Also visit the Parathasarathy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna before returning to your hotel. Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 3:Chennai-Mahabalipuram (approx drive 1 ½ hrs)
Morning drive to Mahabalipuram en-route visiting textile and shore temple town of Kanchipuram, sometimes known as Siva Vishnu Kanchi, one of the 7 holiest Hindu cities and famous for its spectacular temples. Many of the temples are the work of the later Cholas and of the Vijayanagar kings. Kanchipuram is also famous for hand woven silk fabrics. Continue drive to Mahabalipuram, arrive & check into hotel. Relax rest of the day. Optional: visit to Mamallapuram Dance festival. Hotel (Breakfast)   Mahabalipuram music and dance festival is a month long celebration of classical music and dance of South India( Carnatic Music). The festival unrolls it colur at a number of venues, around the city, by various “sabhas” or organizations.  The city comes alive with the festival, now developed into a cultural extravaganza with more than 2000 participants around the city. Performances include, Vocal and Instrumental music, Dance - solo and group, both by junior and senior artistes. The combination of upcoming artists, performing with well-established artists, gives a range of amusement to the audience. Day 4:Mahabalipuram
Morning visit Mahabalipuram, world famous for it’s shore temples. These shore temples in particular strike a very romantic theme and are some of the most photographed monuments in India. Also visit Arjuna’s Penance, this rock bas-relief, shaped like a huge whale, was built by king Narasimha I. On either sides of the rock one can find the God’s of the triple world, demi-gods, or gods of men, birds and beasts, the Nagas, the Nymphs all found mingling into the theme of Arjuna’s penance. PanchaRathas, the five Rathas is a set of magnificent monolithic rock temples. Later visit few Agrarian villages, namely the Lyankarkulam, Keelkathirpur, and the Thiruparuthikuntrame, dependent mainly on agriculture. Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 5:Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry (approx drive 2 hrs)
Morning drive to Pondicherry, arrive and check in to Hotel De L’Orient. Later visit Auroville, an international commune founded by the “Mother”, where a large number of people from different parts of the world live and work together. The other attraction of Pondicherry is the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. This haven of spirituality is actually one of the most affluent ashrams on the Indian subcontinent. Founded in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo, it espouses a body of complicated tenets that essentially aim to fuse the ancient Hindu philosophy of Yoga with all types of modern science.Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 6:Pondicherry - Thanjavur (approx drive 5 hrs)
Morning drive to Thanjavur,enroute visiting the Gangaikondacholesvaram temple.Arrive and check in to Hotel Sangam. Afternoon visit Brahadeeswara temple also known as Big temple. Later visit Thanjavur art gallery (inside the Palace), houses a number of granite and bronze statues of the Chola period. andVeena making Centre. Evening participate in the Aarti (way of worshipping Hindu God) at Big temple.Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 7:Thanjavur
Morning excursion of Trichy (2 hours drive), to visit theSrirangam Temple, built in the 14th& 17th centuries, the Rock Fort Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which has the tallest temple tower for any South Indian type of temple. Later return to Thanjavur.Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 8:Thanjavur-Madurai (approx drive 5 hrs)
Morning drive to Madurai and check in to hotel.Afternoon free. Later in the evening witness NIGHT CEREMONY at Meenakshi Temple where the process of God going to sleep is demonstrated. Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 9:Madurai
Morning, visit the famousMeenakshiTemple (named after one of the daughters of a Pandyan king, who had 3 breasts). The temple is spread over 6 hectares and its enormous “Gopurams” or towers are covered with gaily-colored statues, and are visible from a great distance. Also visit, TirumalaiNayakarPalace, AlagarKoil and MarilammanTeppakulam. Evening, walk around the interesting bazaar near Meenakshi Temple.Hotel (Breakfast)


Day 10:Madurai- Chennai – International departure
On time transfer to airport to board flight to Chennai and take connecting flight back home. (Breakfast)
